Moving with Muchness

By Lori Hanau

As I look back and reflect on 2017, I just take in a deep, slow breath. There have been so many deep disturbances. I'm sure, like me, you all have also had great experiences of good and beauty in 2017. Not much seems stable. There is a lot at stake. It all feels so big. Many of us seem to be moving with a whole lot of muchness.

As much of the world enters into the high season for holy days, I am reminded that it is the strong, open, clear, and full heart and spirit of us that is essential. Our wholeheartedness. As we absorb vast amounts information, I invite us to remember our wholeness.

As the Hopi Elders call to us in their prophesy,

"This could be a good time! There is a river flowing now very fast.

It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid.

They will try to hold on to the shore. They will feel they are being torn apart, and they will suffer greatly.

Know the river has its destination. The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river - keep your eyes open, and your heads above the water. See who is in there with you and celebrate."

I know from the depths of our despair and overwhelm, it can be hard to imagine celebrating in the rapids, especially in the day to day pressure cookers of our workplaces. I have been asking myself, how do I bring light to my work, my team, my life in the close of this year? I have started intentionally humming every day, running song through my body. And we are taking additional ten minute dance party breaks at work. Whoever calls for the dance party break gets to pick the song. Dance in the daylight, at work? Yes, please! Bring on the weird!! Every time we dance, we are all laughing by the time the dance ends. To some, these acts may seem trite against the currents we are in. But acts like these remind me to keep my head above the water, see who is in here with me and celebrate.

I am remembering that in all of the muchness of this year, we here at GRTL have so much to be grateful for. My gratitude, our gratitude flows to you. You awaken the currents of our hearts in inspiration, hope, love and such respect. We are humbled, happy and so honored to know you and to work with you. Thank you for showing up. Please know that you are being celebrated.

And wherever this journey is taking us, we are so glad to be in the river next to you. May you, your co-workers, friends and families have a blessed end of the year and turn into the new year. May we truly tap into the greatness of our humanity as we flow into 2018. May we remember to let go of all that holds us back from one another. Letting go of our own fears, releasing from our own stuckness, we'll keep our heads above the water - and celebrate.

Call to me…...and I’ll sing you a song. Remember.
